The places I return to when I’m home: an early stop at Kalapawai Market and a meal at Buzz’s near Kailua Beach.

Kim’s morning ritual: Kalapawai Market
An early-morning drop-in at Kalapawai Market is a must for me before a walk on the beach or a paddle from Lanikai. It’s one of those small rituals that makes being home feel like home.

This is the Kailua Beach market, distinct from Kalapawai’s Kailua Town location. Check the market’s current hours before an early start.

Kim’s pick: Buzz’s Original Steak House
Buzz’s is my favorite restaurant when I’m home in Kailua. A lot of that comes from the memories—it’s a place I always come back to. Its location close to Kailua Beach makes it an easy part of a beach day, too.
My food pick: the poke—it’s amazing.

My drink picks: a BFRD or a Mai Tai.

Another breakfast option in town
Cinnamon’s · Kailua town
A breakfast and lunch option on Uluniu Street. Its menu includes pancakes and eggs Benedict. Check the current menu and hours before building it into your morning.
Keep the day flexible
Check each restaurant’s current hours, menus and reservations. Use the three-day itinerary to make room for food between beach time and paddling.
These are independent recommendations. Buzz’s and Kalapawai are my personal picks; Cinnamon’s is another option to explore.
